This week Sister Liu shared the following...
Rain, rain go away...
Rain, rain go away...
Hello hello hello-
This week has been.. well... rainy.
Rainy weeks in Taiwan pretty much mean- everyone cancels their lessons, no one is outside, and no one wants to open the door....
So the week was a little slow... But there were some great things that happened at the beginning!
May 18. Monday
It started off great though! Our investigator, Yang Lili, took us to the beach :) Yup that's correct- the beach! Ahhhh we are very lucky sisters :)
May 19. Tuesday
We were able to teach Lin Jie Mei her first RC lesson :) (RC Lessons are lessons we teach to recent converts. We teach them all 5 lessons over again, just for review, and to help them keep strengthening their testimony) We love going over to her house because you always learn so much from her and her husband. Even though they are new converts- they already have such a deep love for the gospel- and it really shows in their actions. We are really focusing on the temple for them, because they will be able to go in a year!
May 20. Wednesday
It rained. So we decided to tract. I think mostly people just looked at us like "Why in the world are you outside right now?" Well, we were able to talk to everyone we ran into- which was a miracle. But, we weren't really able to make it into any houses... Probably because we looked like wet dogs... but next time! We are going to go back onto that same street and try again- when it's not raining.
May 21. Thursday
It rained. Really. Really. Hard. Our lessons for the day were cancelled. So we spent the day sending texts and making phone calls. And starring at the sky waiting for it to stop raining. It didn't.
May 22. Friday
Still raining. Our two lessons we had scheduled were cancelled. We tried contacting, but the conversations we have usually go something like
"Hi! How are you toda-- " * a bucket of rain is thrown into your mouth* and then the people give you a look and leave....
Fun fact of the day: Someone referred a buddhist nun to us. We are going to see how that goes...
May 23. Saturday
Still raining. We had a lesson scheduled with a potential, but she cancelled. Oh but we had one lesson at night! It was with a less active- her name is Lin Chen Mei Ling. We have been trying to reach her over the past month, but we have never been able to. Finally we caught her at home! She told us that there are just some things that she doesn't want to follow anymore and she thinks that reading the book of mormon is a chore- We really focused on just listening to her and trying to understand all her concerns. We bore our testimonies on how the gospel has blesses our lives and our families lives. We told her about how we shouldn't see guidelines as restrictions, but rather they are blessings. She really opened up to us and we are set up for next Tuesday- I really hope we will be able to help her come back to church and remember why she decided to get baptized in the first place :)
May 24. Sunday
Um... yes it was still raining. We had church and went over to the bishops house for dinner- I think they just felt really bad for us watching us miserably attempt to bike in the rain... But it was good :) We always learn so much whenever we go to the bishops house- they are a young family, but have so many experiences that seriously help all of us missionaries grow even more.
Fun fact of the week: We have a leak in our room. Perks of living on the top floor in an apartment building...
Anyways, I love you all so much!
Always, Sister Michelle Liu 劉 姐 妹
