This week sister Michelle Liu shared the following...
Helloooo Everyone!!
So it is almost two weeks! Well officially two weeks on Wednesday, today is day 12 O.o
It still feels like I just got here yesterday, Sister Graham and I have gotten so close, I am so proud to call her one of my closest friends, we get along on every level, I feel like I've known her forever! I couldn't of asked for a better companion :)
Sooo this week has been filled with so much stuff!
Monday 1/12 : P-Day, and for those of you who don't know, P-day is just preparation day, and on that day we just get to go to the temple, do laundry, email, go to the MTC bookstore if we need anything, etc. In the morning we went to the temple and then came back did some chores, and planned a lesson for Yang Ju, who we were teaching later that night, we taught him about the book of mormon and joseph smith and asked him to pray about it to see if what we were saying was true. It was really nice just to relax that day and recharge for the week.
Tuesday 1/13: Tuesday was um interesting. In the morning Elder Booth came up to me and my companion and said the whole district was needed in the medical center for something. Turns out, they needed to draw blood. Let's just say it was not a good time. I had this lady on one side of me who handed me a stuffed animal and my companion, Sister Graham, on the other side holding my hand. As I lay back in the chair there was a picture of Jesus taped to the ceiling that said "Fear not, I am with you." which was actually pretty funny, I guess I'm not the only one who has trouble with blood. Then they gave me a lollipop and a giant thing of gatorade so I wouldn't pass out. It was like I was 3 again. Then later that night we had a devotional and Russel M. Nelson spoke! He just gave us general advice on missionary work and how we can improve, the spirit was so strong and it was just amazing. Oh! And I joined the MTC choir, so we sang during the devotional and it was broadcasted to all the other MTCs :)
Wednesday 1/14: So Wednesday was pretty normal, classes, studying, the usual. We taught Yang Ju for the fourth time, We taught about the holy ghost and the light of Christ. My chinese is coming along well, he seemed to grasp everything we were saying, and I understood everything he was saying, which was good :)
Thursday 1/15: Cleaned the bathrooms for service in the morning. fun stuff... Taught Yang Ju for the 5th time and this time he recognized the spirit! It was so cool, I can't wait to get out into the field and actually teach people for real! Oh and I met two elders from Taiwan that came into our zone! They are going to the San Francisco/ Oakland Mission, Mandarin Speaking! I told them all about California and how amazing it is haha :)
Friday 1/16: During gym, I usually am just doing ab exercises and working on flexibility, some people noticed that i was working on my over splits upstairs, and then this huge group of elders and sisters came and asked me to help them get the splits by the end of their time here at the MTC. Let's just say, the elders were as flexible as bricks. But it was hilarious to watch. Then the normal classes and studying, no lessons on friday so it wasn't anything too exciting, but still fun!
Saturday 1/17: Saturday was the usual too, studying, classes, more studying, more classes.. The teachers came in to talk to me about being fast tracked because my Mandarin is a little more advanced. But the only option was to leave with the other district and they are leaving next week... They decided a week wasn't enough to cram all the church vocab terms in my head, so turns out I'm staying here for the full nine weeks. BUT all my teachers are pretty much making me do different things than everyone else, and they want me to learn how to write/read chinese characters. So basically I am going to be pretty busy.
Sunday 1/18: My favorite day. We don't have classes, and we just get to enjoy the day. Listened to Music in the Spoken Word, and then attended Relief Society. Got a new MTC presidency and relief society presidency! So that was cool :) Then we had sacrament meeting, my comp and I got called as the music coordinators, and I am playing piano for sacrament meeting. yet again. haha its ok though, I guess Heavenly Father just really wants me to keep on playing piano. Temple walk! The weather was so nice, and it was cool to leave MTC grounds, I forget that there's an actual world outside this place. Later that night we had a devotional from the new presidency and then we watched the Joseph Smith movie. I cried. Again. What's new. haha but really, I love that movie and I encourage everyone to watch it if they get the chance!
Sorry for the super long email, but I love and miss you all! Thanks for all the kind words I've received through letters and emails! It means a lot! The MTC life is superrrr busy though, so I'm sorry if I don't get back to you right away! We are constantly doing something every second of the day!
Love you all!
