This week Sister Liu shared the following...
Building Trust and Escaping the MTC :)
Building Trust and Escaping the MTC :)
HELLO EVERYBODY.
I can't believe I only have about three weeks left here at the MTC, time flies by! District A is leaving next week and we are all so sad :( Visas to Taiwan are still a big issue so they have all been reassigned! They are all headed to Long Beach, California, and one elder to Little Rock, Arkansas! Then after they get their visas they will go to Taiwan, I'm pretty sure I will be reassigned too, so everyone start guessing :)
Monday pDay. Temple, laundry, email. Same old, same old. BUT the temple is always a treat! It has been hard for Sister Graham and I to connect with our investigator, Li Zhi Hao, but on Monday we finally figured out that he just really has a hard time trusting others. He shared with us some personal problems, and now we are trying to build up trust with him.
Sister Lung and Sister Wai (our roommates) left at 6 am Tuesday for their flight to London. At least it wasn't 3am… It has been hard to see friends come and go, but I know they are out there doing the Lord's work!
5 weeks officially done! Wednesday I hosted 3 new sisters, who were all english speaking and serving in the states, they said they couldn't imagine being here for 9 weeks, since they are all here only for 13 days. As I helped them get their books for class, I realized their "bag" of books, was a small plastic bag with a folder and a notebook, english speaking missionaries are very blessed :P But Mandarin is still great.. haha
Taught Li Zhi Hao again on Thursday. Trust is building up. Finally. Hopefully we can keep on building that trust and start a strong relationship.
Friday Feb 13, I saw one of my good friends, Quinn Greenwood, at the MTC! It is so cool to see so many people from BYU here :) Oh and I got Valentines packages! Thanks Mom and friends :)
Saturday, Valentine’s Day at the MTC. yeah.. not that exciting.. haha. It was our last day of in person TRC's! (We are going to start TRC skype sessions with people in Taiwan today! TRC lessons are with members of the church, not investigators. TRC lessons are inviting and helping members who speak our mission language come unto Christ.) We taught about how to receive revelation through going to church and why going to church every week is important. I invite all of you to look up the definition of "church" in the Bible Dictionary, it really changed the way I think about things!
Sunday’s Temple walk is always good because we are cooped up in this place all week. Devotional was by Stephen B. Douglas, he gave us advice on companionships and missionary work in general. Quotes of the Day:
" When everything says you can't, believe in the part that says you can."
" It's not who you aren't, it's who you are, and being yourself is being great."
" It's often life's smallest moments that bring the greatest joy, don't let the magic pass you by."
After devotional our branch went on a field trip! We went to the West Campus of the MTC. (it's still in Provo- just like a 5 min drive) They are going to start using the new classrooms in West campus because there are too many missionaries here now.. haha. Anyways we went to "test them out" We were able to leave the MTC O.o It was sooo weird.. So we got to ride on a bus! Keep in mind, we haven't been in a moving vehicle at ALL since we've been here. Just imagine a bunch of 18-20 year olds with their faces pressed against the windows. Yeah... it was so weird to be in a bus. Drove past my old dorm too! which was even weirder.. Glad to be back and safe in my MTC bubble haha :)
Sorry these emails are so long, there is just so much that I always want to say! I love you all!
- Sister Michelle Liu
p.s sorry if I don't respond to your emails every week! The email hour is actually very short.. and I just want you to know that if you've sent me an email, I appreciate you taking the time to do that! I read every email, but sometimes I just don't have time to respond, just know that I love you all!
