This week Sister Liu shared the following experience...
HELLO EVERYONE.
Honestly don't even know where to begin..
FIRST, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! Thank you for everything you do, and all the bug spray you have sent me :)
Ok, I'll start off with a fun fact:
Did you know that in Taiwan bicyclists and pedestrians have the LEAST right of way?
Yup the bigger the truck the more right of way you have. Here's the order:
1. Super big truck
2. Big truck
3. Cars
4. Motorcycles/ Scooters
5. Bicyclists/ Pedestrians
I don't think I have had so many near death experiences in my life. It is a little terrifying when you are 5 feet, riding a bike, trying to dodge all the vehicles that are trying to kill you. But, hey, I'll be super skilled when I get back home :)
Alright now onto what happened this week:
Monday. March 23. Day 76.
P-day :) We got some groceries and biked around the Chao Zhou area trying to figure out where everything was. We went tracting ( which is just knocking on doors for those who don't know) later in the day, but no one was really interested :(
Tuesday. March 24. Day 77.
District meeting in the morning :) Met my entire district which consists of, Elder Shertluff, Elder Colvin, Elder Nipper, Elder Ward (our district leader), Sister Defranchi, and me :) During the district meeting we learned about how to ask inspired questions. We also went to the city hall to find some service opportunities to meet more people.
Wednesday. March 25. Day 78.
We went powerboarding for english class which was actually pretty fun :) It's just where we stand at the corners of intersections and hold up banners that say "free english class" Then we hand flyers out to all the scooters that are stopped at red light haha Afterward we taught english class. There are three classes for teens/adults and then one class for little kids. Because we are the only sisters in the district, guess which class we ended up teaching. Yup. The little kids. Let's just say it was a little exhausting... But hey, I'm getting even more exercise chasing kids around the classroom and trying to teach them english at the same time.
Thursday. March 26. Day 79.
On thursday we just did a lot of contacting, some powerboarding, and then we went to institute! The institute teacher has only been a member for 2 years, but she is great! I still don't understand everything in Chinese, but I'm now able to get the main concept of what's going on haha :)
Friday. March 27. Day 80.
We attended one of the elders' investigator's baptism. His name is Kevin Li, probably one of the sweetest little old men I have ever met. We invited some girls from english class to come, and they did! It seemed like they really enjoyed it, we have another appointment set up with them soon :) Sister Defranchi and I also played a piano duet there. It was 'Joseph Smith's First Prayer" - which is one of my all time favorites. Piano is still coming in handy :)
Saturday. March 28. Day 81.
We were able to teach a girl named Milla we found. We taught her about the restoration and she seemed really receptive. She is working on her masters so she is really busy , but she really wants to keep meeting with us. I can't wait to see where it goes! Also tender mercy: We had just run out of groceries, and when we went to 7-11 there was this lady there that we just started talking to. She then gave us a bunch of free food that she said she couldn't finish! The Lord is looking out for his missionaries :)
Sunday. March 29. Day 82.
Had church in the morning and taught the third hour. We taught about how easy missionary work can actually be. For lunch, the bishop had us go over and his wife made us a huge meal. It was insane. She also gave us bowls of it to take home for dinner. I think I ate enough to last a week. I am still full from it and it is now monday... Anyways, we still didn't have groceries, but the Lord always provides a way :)
I have to run now, but I love you all so much!
Oh and my address from now on is:
#498-11 Wu Chuan Road
Taichung 404-46
Taiwan
Also, general conference is next week! We get it a week later after all of you because I am currently a day ahead, so we have to wait until the week after to watch it. Anyways, if you have a favorite talk, please email me and let me know! My trainer is doing this and said it is a good way to know which talks to especially pay attention to when we actually watch it :)
Love, Sister Liu
